Helping children living with trauma.   Rebuilding trust. Transforming lives.
 Families Empowered.

Placing children and their families at the heart of our work

With warmth, understanding and expertise, our team of skilled practitioners offer highly effective, attachment-led therapeutic interventions and training services.

We are dedicated to improving the lives of children living with early life trauma and loss by supporting their families and carers, local authorities, agencies and education settings in providing transformative care. We are proud to be recognised as an 'Outstanding Provider' of Adoption Support Services by Ofsted (March 2023).

Our services are informed by the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), developed by clinical psychologist, Dan Hughes, as well as current thinking in neurobiology research.

DDP is a family therapy model that was developed for the treatment of children who have experienced abuse and neglect and who demonstrate ongoing problems related to attachment and relational trauma

‘Life changing’ is how our families have described our support.

From family therapy to therapeutic groups to bespoke training opportunities, Families Empowered never lose sight of what matters most: the children and families we can help through nurturing attachment, rebuilding trust and transforming lives.

What do we mean by 'trauma'?

PARENTS & CARERS

We can help your family. Maybe you feel like your child’s behaviour is too difficult to improve or you’re the only one struggling to manage, or perhaps you know they’ve had a tough start in life but you just don’t know what to do from here.

Our team of experienced and kind professionals can support, guide and nurture your family and, together, try to make things better.

SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS

Learning begins with attachment. Our trauma and attachment training and therapeutic support services for schools have been developed to transform the learning environment.

Whether you need help in developing your trauma-aware practices, workshops that help to reach parents and carers, or targeted support for a student in crisis, we can help.
